Pastor Gerald V. Lendow
Born in St. Louis, Mo. to Willie and Annie Lendow the second of five children. Was taught about God from an early age at the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, under Rev. Oscar Roosevelt Hellums. Around the age of eleven he succumbed to the draw of the world and for 25 years followed after the things of the world. In 1967 he joined the U.S. Army where he served for five years. After traveling extensively overseas with tours of duty in Korea, Germany, Vietnam, Okinawa, and various bases in the U.S. he was discharged in the Washington, D.C. area. Where he met and married his wife and companion Alma C. Lendow.
In 1986 after running from the call that was on his life the Lord saved him and delivered him from over 16 years of drug abuse and addiction. He joined Second Refreshing Spring COGIC. under Superintendent Richard Alvin Bouknight, where he learned that subsequent to salvation he needed to be filled by the Spirit of God After six months of seeking God, God wondrously filled him with His Glorious Spirit. He served at Second Refreshing Spring until the Lord called him to the Pastoral ministry.
In the early stages of his walk with God. he was given a hunger for the Word of God, which led him to take classes at Samuel Kelsey Bible Institute. Where he graduated valedictorian and was invited back as an instructor by the late Dean Walter Lee Morrison, Elder Lendow served as Instructor of the Old and New Testament Survey he also taught Homiletics, Church Doctrine, as well as serving as the Interim Dean and Dean of Student Affairs while at the institute. He has subsequently been blessed to travel abroad to Cagayan de Oro City on the Philippine Island of Mindanao teach a Pastors Conference Those efforts, by the grace of God have resulted in at least four new church plants and outreach ministries to that Island.
